Hi family!! I'm alive and well at the CCM in Argentina! I can't read any of my emails right now, but I just wanted to let you know that I am doing well and that I made it here in one piece! Wow has it been a crazy adventure so far!

My pdays are Thursdays, so I will email next week. Sorry!

My companion is Hermana Vernon from Utah! Shes awesome! Also all of our 6 roommates don't speak English so thats fun haha

What is an LDS Missionary?

Missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are volunteer representatives of the LDS Church who engage in proselyting, church service, humanitarian aid, and community service. Male mormon missionaries (referred to as Elders) serve for approximately 24 months and females (referred to as Sisters) serve for 18 months, and are organized geographically into missions. The mission assignment could be to any of the 418 missions organized worldwide.

Newly called missionaries attend a training period at one of 15 Church Missionary Training Centers (MTCs) worldwide.

During the mission, each missionary is assigned to be another missionary's companion. Missionary companionships are maintained for weeks to months and most missionaries will have served with multiple companions by the end of their mission.

Missionaries are required to "avoid all forms of worldly entertainment." Generally, they are not allowed to watch television, have a phone or any electronics, watch movies, or use the Internet during their missions.

Missionaries direct their focus to teaching and preaching the Restored Gospel of Christ and providing service to those in their mission.

The only communication missionaries have with their families are two FaceTime calls a year, weekly emails, and written letters. Missionaries sacrifice this time with their families so they can have complete focus on their missions and their responsibility to teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
